KeeleyOne Spotlight: Amy Scherer

KeeleyOne is focused on creating an atmosphere that promotes Diversity & Inclusion. Amy Scherer, Project Architect at Keeley Construction and Co-Leader of the KeeleyOne team, is dedicated to making sure that everyone’s voice is heard. As a woman in a male-dominated industry, she has seen firsthand just how important it is to create an environment that supports the equity of every single team member. She is grateful to be given the chance to help drive this change at Keeley Companies.

When a spot opened up to help lead KeeleyOne, Amy jumped at the opportunity. Amy, alongside her co-leader Kristin Mosley, is excited to hit the ground running with KeeleyOne in 2022. Throughout her career, she has found a passion for Diversity & Inclusion and strongly feels that every voice needs to have a seat at the table in order to achieve the best results possible.

“Diversity & Inclusion means fostering a culture of belonging, advocacy, and empowerment for everyone – regardless of race, gender, age, ability, sexual orientation, etc.”

While Amy hasn’t been an “official” KeeleyOne team member since its inception in 2019, she has been an active participant and has jumped headfirst into her new role. Over the past two years, she has learned that driving this change truly is a marathon and not a sprint. There are a lot of moving parts that are going to make it successful including buy-in across the organization and alignment on goals and purpose. She has also challenged herself to really sit down and have those productive yet challenging conversations so she can bring a fresh perspective to the team. There are so many opinions and motives that it has been challenging to narrow down their list of “wants” to a list of realistic goals that they can accomplish this year. This has also made Amy is incredibly excited for what’s to come, especially getting more involved with our craftspeople and really bringing our KeeleyOne culture to every Keeley’n in the field.

As KeeleyOne grows, there are some amazing opportunities for Keeley’ns to get involved! Amy encourages everyone to attend an INCLUDE Session and take advantage of the various VOICE Chats held throughout the year. It is also important for office team members to reach out and form relationships with our craftspeople and vice versa. These relationships help foster an even stronger culture and success for the entire company. Finally, KeeleyOne is always looking for team members and champions, and Amy wants Keeley’ns to know that if they are interested in having a hands-on experience with KeeleyOne, those opportunities are available to them.

“KeeleyOne is really about a culture of belonging and respect. We want every Keeley’n to feel they have a place here. Be willing to find common ground and step outside stereotypes.”

As Amy continues to educate herself on Diversity & Inclusion, she recommends the following podcast, book, and television series:
